PCB to take over Sahiwal Stadium

Published September 16, 2003

SAHIWAL, Sept 15: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to take Jinnah Stadium in Sahiwal under its control in order to make ground fit for first-class matches.

This was disclosed by PCB chairman, Lt Gen Tauqir Zia, at a press conference here on Sunday.

However, the PCB chief ruled out possibility of holding of international matches at this ground due to lack of five-star hotels, which is a mandatory requirement of the ICC.

The stadium would also be provided with coaching facilities, Tauqir said.

The chairman ordered an inquiry into the misuse of funds by the local cricket body.
