Asad’s century fails to save Afghanistan from defeat

KARACHI, Sept 14: Opener Asadullah smashed a superb century but his efforts failed to save Afghanistan from a five wickets defeat at the hands of Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) in day/night match practice game at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium here on Saturday night.

Right-handed batsman Asad hit 12 boundaries in his 108 as Afghanistan collected 227 for six wickets in their 50 overs.

RLCA in response reached the target in 42 overs thanks to sparkling half centuries by new Test batsman Farhan Adil and Aamir Kaleem.

All-rounder Aamir Kaleem played a key role in RLCA victory. Besides taking three wickets for 34 runs with his left arm spin, he struck an unbeaten 51 to steer RLCA to easy win.

AFGHANITAN: 227-6 in 50 overs (Asadullah 108, Nauroze Khan 33, Hashmatullah 24, Aamir Kaleem 3-34, Shahmir Khattak 3-40) RLCA 225-5 in 42 overs (Farhan Adil 72, Aamir Kaleem 51 not out, Aimal 2-34, Alam 2-42).—APP
