2 promoted as rear admiral

ISLAMABAD, Sept 14: Commodore Naveed Ahmed and Commodore Abrar Hussain have been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, says a notification issued by the defence ministry here on Sunday.

Commodore Naveed Ahmed joined the Navy in 1970 as an officer in the Weapon Engineering Branch, the notification said.

A submariner by profession, Cdre Ahmed has held various assignments, including directors of submarine project, its maintenance and construction.

He did his graduation from Naval Staff College and Weapon Engineering Application Course from UK.

At present, he is serving as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, (Maintenance), at the Naval Headquarters. He is a recipient of Sitar-i-Imtiaz (Military).

Commodore Abrar Hussain joined the Navy in 1970 as a specialist in the Marine Engineering Branch. He has also held various assignments, including directors of munition production, ship maintenance and repair as well as general manager ships rebuild and construction.

He has served on several ships and establishments.

The flag officer is a graduate from Naval Staff College, National Defence College and did Marine Engineering Application Course from UK.

He is also a recipient of Sitar-i-Imtiaz (Military).
