Lightning kills 3 children

KHAAR (Bajaur Agency), Sept 14: Three children of a family were killed and another was seriously injured when thunderstorm and lightning struck Loi Sam, some 15km from here, on Saturday night.

Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and torrential rain lashed the tribal agency the whole night.

Lightning struck the house of Malik Gul Zarin, killing his three children, Zaitoon Bibi, Akbar and Shaukat, on the spot, while a minor boy, Ashraf, was injured.

People from nearby localities rushed to the village and started rescue operation.

They recovered the bodies from the rubble after a few hours’ efforts. Officials of the political administration and personnel of civil defence also took part in the rescue work. The local administration has announced compensation for the bereaved family.—Correspondent
