BADIN Sept 14: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Sunday declared the remaining two talukas of the Badin district calamity-affected areas and waived off land revenue, Ushr and Abyana for the year.

Three of the district’s talukas were earlier declared calamity-hit areas by the Sindh chief minister.

Talking to councillors, growers and influential people of Badin, the prime minister said it was his second visit to the district during the last two months to express sympathies with rain-affected people.

Mr Jamali also visited the Rahmatullah Junejo village near Matli, 58 kilometres off here.

District Relief Committee Chairman MPA Syed Ali Bux Shah, District Nazim Kamal Khan Chang and adviser Ali Akbar Khan Nizamani had requested the prime minister to declare the remaining talukas calamity-hit.

Earlier, Mr Jamali and his son, Mir Fareed Khan Jamali, offered condolence on the death of Khando Khan Junejo, brother of Syed Ghulam Nabi Shah, former Badin District Council vice-chairman.

Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar, Sindh Minister Mir Manzoor Panhwar and other senior officials also accompanied the prime minister.
