ISLAMABAD, Sept 14: As many as 407,109 people have been sent abroad for employment during the last three years, from 2001 to July this year, official sources told this agency on Sunday.

Manpower export not only provides job opportunities to the unemployed population, but also results in earning foreign exchange for the country which stands at $4.2 billion for 2002- 03, second to our regular export of other commodities, they said.

“Manpower export is live-wire of our economy and under the able leadership of President Gen Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Mian Abdul Sattar Khan Laleka, Pakistan has been able to make a breakthrough in traditional and non- traditional manpower importing to countries,” the sources said. —APP
