HYDERABAD, Sept 14: The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced revised programme of the by-election for various posts on Nazims and Naib Nazims.
The elections will be held on Oct 10 for the slots of Naib Nazims of Khairpur, Dadu, Jacobabad and Thatta districts, Nazims of Daulatpur, Kandhkot, Kandiaro, Lakhi, Mehar, Hyderabad (rural), Diplo and Kot Diji talukas and Naib Nazims of Rato Dero and Naushahro Feroze.
The ECP said the nomination papers would be issued by the returning officers on Sept 17. The same will be received by 22, notice of nomination will be published on 23 and the papers scrutinized from 24 to 26.
The appeals against acceptance or rejection of the papers could be filed by Sept 29, the appeals will be disposed of on or before 30, the candidature could be withdrawn on Oct 1 and lists of contesting candidates will be published on 2.
The polling will be held on Oct 20 and results announced on 21. The run-off election will be held on 28 and results will be announced on 29.
DECLAMATION: The Sindh University declamation team has won second position in the bilingual declamation contest recently held at the Naval Academy Karachi among eighty teams.
Two students of the university, Waqar Ahmed of Urdu department and Iqbal Hussain Shar of the Institute of Business Administration participated in the event.
OBITUARY: Teachers of Mass Communication department, University of Sindh, paid tribute to Jauhar Hussain, former director, press information department and pioneer visiting teacher of the department.
At a condolence meeting held on Friday, Professor Agha Rafiq and others said that the late Hussain would be remembered by his students.
MUET: The Mehran University and Engineering and Technology has extended the date for submission of forms for admission to first year, BE, BArch and BCRP to Sept 18.
