KARACHI: Rs39.69m mangrove project

KARACHI, Sept 14: The Departmental Development Working Party has approved a project for rehabilitation and propagation of drought-hit coastal mangroves of Thatta district at a cost of Rs39.69 million to be implemented under the public sector development programme 2003-4.

The coastal development authority will be the identifying and sponsoring agency while the project will be executed by the forest and wildlife department. The project will be completed in five years.

The project objectives and targets include hydrological restoration of 2,000 hectares affected area, planting on 4,000 hectares, and raising 1.10 million container plants.—APP
