Senator flays opposition

LAHORE, Sept 12: Senator Kamil Ali Agha, the chief minister’s chief coordinator, on Friday ridiculed the opposition leaders, who were using all conceivable methods to win positions in the local government system and claiming (at the same time) that they would wind up the system after assuming power.

At a meeting, the senator urged the electorate to take stock of the doublespeak of such leaders.

He said the district government system came into being because of the LFO. “It is quite strange that the opposition parties are raising slogans against the LFO in parliament, but outside it they are accepting the system.”

MNA Begum Mehnaz Rafi said those, who opposed the district-government system, had no justification to try to become a part of it. Also, such people should not seek votes from councillors to become the Ravi Town Nazim, he added.

Town Nazim Maj Rafiq Hasrat (retired) said the system would flourish only in the hands of the present government.
