Plea against killing dismissed

MULTAN, Sept 12: Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdus Sattar on Friday dismissed the plea of a woman against the alleged extra-judicial killing of her son.

The court held that the point of view of the defendant, former DSP Haram Gate and the incumbent SP South Punjab CID, Nizam Shahid, was correct while dismissing the complaint of Bismilla Khatoon of Haram Gate area that her son Wajid Ali had been shot dead by the defendant.

The police officer submitted that the deceased was a member of a gang of dacoits that not only committed robberies but also gangraped women.

On Aug 1, 1991, Wajid and his friends were allegedly celebrating a dacoity in Mohalla Usmanabad when the police raided there. The “gangsters” resorted to firing, the police returned fire, killing Wajid and injuring his “accomplices”.—APP
