LARKANA: PPL urged to employ locals

LARKANA, Sept 12: District Nazim Khursheed Ahmad Junejo has urged the management of Pakistan Petroleum Limited to approach his office in case of any obstacle in finding talented youths for high rank posts to successfully run the Mazarani gas field in Kambar taluka.

Expressing his concern over not recruiting the local people at the gas field, he urged the general manager PPL to resolve the issue of restlessnes among locals.

In a letter to the GM on Thursday, the district Nazim quoted protests and complains of the local population against authorities at the Mazarani Gas field for their alleged neglect in the process of recruitment.

The Nazim asked the GM PPL to avoid situation of confrontation with local masses.

The joint venture of the PPL, the Hunt International Petroleum Company and Sabre Petroleum Limited had discovered the gas in lower Eocene formation at the Mazarani area of Kambar Taluka in 1959.

The field has been declared to contain commercial quantity of gas. Three wells have been drilled and the PPL has completed the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) study and invited bids for the installation of sales gas pipeline and gas processing facilities.

DIST COUNCIL: The district council on Thursday unanimously adopted a resolution urging the federal government to reactivate the National Fund for Moenjodaro.

Muhib Pirzado, Nazim, union council Bagi, while tabling the resolution said Rs1 million, exclusively meant for the preservation and conservation of ancient site, had been suspended by the federal government. He said the UNESCO and other funding agencies provided the money for the heritage site.

Mr Pirzado also demanded early recovery of 40 unequalled objects stolen from the site museum a year back.

The council with one voice urged the federal government to undertake necessary measures to preserve the remains of Moenjodaro.
