Afghan U-19 cricketers arrive

KARACHI, Sept 11: A 16-member Afghanistan Under-19 cricket squad arrived here Thursday on a training- cum- preparatory tour at Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA).

During their ten-day stay in Karachi, the Afghan team besides attending a training sessions at RLCA located at Customs Sports Complex will play five matches against local combinations.

During their stay in Karachi, touring Afghan team will play matches against RLCA, A.O. Clinic, KCCA, Baqai Dolphins and Professional Gymkhana at various venues of the city.

Khaliq Dad Noori is leading the team. The team includes 14 players and two officials.

Other member of the team are: Hasmullah, Panshirye, Nowroz Khan, Rahid Khan, Amo Khan, Hasti Gul Abid, Muhammad Nabi, Muhhamad Alam, Karim Sadiq, Ahmed Shah, Hasadullah Khan, Ahmedzai, Daulat Khan Ahmedzai and Mujahid Khan.

Abdul Khalid (manager) Taj Malik (coach) are the officials of the team.

Pakistan captain Rashid Latif, who is resting these day because of five match ban said that RLCA was extending free coaching facilities to Afghan team during their stay in the metropolis.

He said Afghanistan Cricket Association (ACA) sent a request to RLCA to train and coach their team in preparations for forthcoming Under-17 Asian Cup being held in India in November.

Rashid said it was an honour to train youngsters from neighboring Afghanistan and he would be personally giving coaching tips to Afghan boys.

Following is the programme of Afghan team. Sept. 13 v RLCA at PCB regional Academy Ground. Sept. 15 v A.O.CCC at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium. Sept. 17 v Baqai Dolphins at UBL Sports Complex Sept. 19 v KCCA at TMC Ground Sept. 21 v Professional Gymkhana at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.—APP
