ISLAMABAD, Sept 11: The political parties of Azad Kashmir have demanded that the Mangla Dam extension agreement should be cancelled forthwith and alternative means be adopted to fulfil the requirements of water.
A decision to this effect was taken by the representatives of All Parties Conference (APC), held at the residence of Opposition leader in the AJK Legislative Assembly, Barrister Sultan Mahmood.
The meeting was also attended by the Amir Jamaat-i-Islami, Azad Kashmir, Sardar Ejaz Afzal Khan, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation League senior president Raja Latif Taher and All Parties National Alliance (APNA) Chairman Wajahat Hussain Khan, and representatives of the other parties.
An unanimous declaration adopted by the APC stated that the coalition between India and Israel; the visit by the Israeli premier to India at the crucial stage when Indian and Israeli governments are planning to hold joint military exercises in South Asia; their joint action poses threats to the peace of the South Asia and the subcontinent itself. The joint declaration condemned the threats to the peace by India and Israel through these steps and made an appeal to the two countries to play their role for the redressal of the dangers posed to South Asia’s security by their actions.
