LAHORE, Sept 11: The Punjab government has launched a World Food Programme sponsored scheme of giving oil tins to mothers before and after delivery in the most backward areas.

The programme has been launched initially in seven districts, including Lodhran, it was stated during a meeting between Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi and WFP representative in Pakistan German Valdivia here on Thursday.

They discussed another scheme of giving food packets to girl students up to primary level to arrest the dropout rate among them. The Punjab government is already giving 5kg tins of oil to such girl students every month to arrest the dropout rate.

Meanwhile, talking to the PML-Q’s Lahore leaders and assembly members, the chief minister said the party would be organized at all levels so that the government come up to the expectations of the people.

He asked the provincial ministers, advisers and special assistants to consult party workers during their visits to districts. The proposals of the workers would be given importance while formulating governmental policies, he said.
