Classes of shelterless college begins
MULTAN, Sept 11: District Nazim Riaz Hussain Qureshi inaugurated classes of the ‘shelterless’ College of Home Economics here on Thursday.
Though the college has launched its classes, its PC-1 is yet to be finalized.
Similarly, the head of the new project (second of its kind in the Punjab and first in Multan) has not been appointed.
The nazim announced that a 41-kanal piece of land had been earmarked for the college in New Multan.
He said the PC-1 for the building had been prepared for submission to the Planning Commission.
For the time being, the classes would be held on the Government Degree College for Women premises.
CENTRE: The Bahauddin Zakariya University’s College of Engineering and Technology has been declared entrance test centre for admission to medical and dental colleges in the province.
Candidates belonging to Multan region will appear for the test at the centre on Sept 21.
According to a press release, the BZU authorities have finalised arrangements to run transport service from various parts of the city for the engineering college to facilitate the candidates coming from in and outside the city.
Besides the university’s own transport service, the intra-city franchised Khan Brothers Bus Service will also operate special service on 21st.
Previously, the Nishtar Medical College and Qasim Bagh Stadium had been the centres for the medical entrance test which is conducted in the province under the supervision of the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.
PROTEST: The Punjab Labour Alliance organized a protest demonstration here on Thursday against unemployment, price hike and privatization of educational and medical institution.
Dozens of PLA activists led by Sohney Khan and Zulnorain Bhutta gathered in front of the local press club, carrying banners and placards bearing their demands.
