Govt-MMA talks concluded, says Qazi

By Our Correspondent

NOWSHERA,  Sept 11: MMA parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that talks between the MMA and the government on the controversial clauses of the Legal Framework Order have concluded.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Qazi Hussain Ahmad said the ball now was in the government’s court and it should introduce, in this regard, the amendment bill. The MMA would take the ARD component parties into confidence after putting the bill before constitutional experts for vetting, he added.

He said Prime Minister Jamali should convene a meeting of opposition parties’ heads so that a consensus could be developed on the issue.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad said that the government should take into confidence all four provinces and elected representatives over the Kalabagh dam issue.

He termed the joint operation launched by the army and the FBI against Al Qaeda and the Taliban in the NWFP a conspiracy, saying that it was against the sovereignty and independence of the country.

He also expressed concern over the increasing interaction among America, Israel and India.

He said the MMA team, comprising Hafiz Hussain Ahmad and Liaquat Baloch had concluded talks with the government over the controversial clauses of the LFO.
