Zafar spins KCCA into U-19 final

KARACHI, Sept 10: Leg spinner Muhammad Ali Zafar and Naveed Khan played key role in Karachi City Cricket Association’s (KCCA) storming into the final of PCB Inter-regional Under-19 One-day cricket when they handed an eight-wicket drubbing to Multan at Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Park Steel Town on Wednesday.

Zafar picked four wickets for 34 runs in ten overs to dismiss Multan for 163 in 50th over after being inserted to bat first. Opener Fayyaz-ul-Hasan topscored with 38 laced with four boundaries off 74 balls. Extras were the joint topscorer with 38 including as many as 32 wides.

KCCA reached the target in 43rd over for the loss of two wickets. Naveed Khan and Faraz Patel were associated in an unbroken 96 runs stand for the third wicket to steer their team to an easy win and top pool “A” one-day competition.

Naveed during his patient unbeaten knock of 65 faced 112 balls and it included just two hits to the boundary. Faraz Patel made 36 off 88 balls without hitting a boundary.

Khurram Manzoor struck a quick 22 with three fours and a six in 27 balls and Fahad Iqbal’s whirlwind 36 off as many balls included seven powerful boundaries.
