MULTAN, Sept 8: Stand-in captain Inzamam-ul-Haq said on Monday that the Pakistan team was determined to win the limited-overs series against Bangladesh for Rashid Latif, who was handed a five-match one-day ban the other day.

Talking to reporters at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Inzamam vowed that Pakistan will try to emulate their 3-0 clean sweep in the Tests by winning all five ODIs against the tourists.

“At the team meeting we all agreed unanimously to win this one-day series for Rashid. And hopefully, we will try to win in all five games,” he asserted.

When asked whether he will be under pressure after being asked to lead the side in unexpected circumstances, the 33-year-old replied: “There is always some sort of pressure when you are the captain, but Rashid’s unfortunate absence has made us more determined and committed.

The burly right-hander is the only player in the current side who played in that World Cup defeat against Bangladesh at Northampton in 1999.

Inzamam, who played a very important role in Pakistan’s thrilling one-wicket victory in the final Test on Saturday with an unbeaten 138, remarked that the team will have to work extra bit harder for victory because of its new-look.

“There are five changes in the squad with several newcomers coming in. They are talented and young but there is no doubt in my mind about the commitment of the team,” he said.

Inzamam, by far the most experienced batsman on either side with a Pakistan record 8957 runs in 290 one-dayers, however admitted that after Bangladesh’s spirited performance in the Tests, it won’t be an easy series for Pakistan. “We are not going to get complacent in the one-dayers keeping in Bangladesh’s excellent fight in the Test here,” he added.
