LAHORE, Sept 8: Former president and Millat Party chief Sardar Farooq Leghari has deplored poor governance in the country.

The governance was too poor, lawlessness was spreading, supremacy of law was being denied, while poverty and unemployment were increasing, he said after inaugurating a party office here on Monday.

Asked if his party, being an ally of the government, also shared the responsibility for poor governance, he said he was trying to guide the government (in improving the situation).

PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Husain had not raised any such issue with him, he said when asked that the ruling party chief had certain complaints with his allies.

About the LFO talks, he said progress had been reported in this regard and he hoped that both the government and the MMA would develop an understanding on the subject.

Replying to a question that if election to the office of the president would be held afresh, he said he could not confide anything about it prematurely.

He told a questioner that the government was taking all allies into confidence on political developments.

Earlier, he urged party workers to make the new office a centre of their activities and work for making the city of Lahore as their stronghold.

In an indirect reference to some government allies which had claimed a major share in federal government, he said getting ministries through conspiracies was very easy but his party’s targets were high and it wanted to work for the right of the masses.
