Bank officials accused of denying farmers loans

DADU, Sept 8: A large number of farmers of held a demonstration outside the press club here on Monday to protest against the managers of local branches of Muslim Commercial Bank, Allied Bank, Habib Bank and Zarai Taraqiati Bank.

Speaking to the protesters, Bahadur Khan and Muhammad said that the managers of the banks were not advancing loans to the growers of the rain-affected areas.

They alleged that the bank managers were issuing loans to the influential persons and receiving commission.

They said that the officers of the ZTB were also using delaying tactics in advancing loans.

They appealed to the heads of the banks to provide them urgent relief.

ROBBERY: Ten armed men barged into the house of police head constable Moula Bux Khokhar in Chhano Shahabad here on Monday.

The intruders held the family hostage at gunpoint and looted valuables, gold ornaments and cash.

They also tried to kidnap an 18-year-old daughter of the policeman.

When the inmates offered resistance, they were beaten up and fired at.

Moula Bux, three women and two children received bullet injuries and were later admitted to the Civil Hospital.

BODY FOUND: The Dadu police recovered the body of an unidentified 20-year-old man from the railway crossing here on Monday.

After autopsy, the police handed the body over to the Edhi centre for burial.

ACCIDENT: Eight passengers were injured when a Hyderabad bound wagon (R-0309) overturned on the Indus Highway near here on Monday.

CLASH: Eight persons were injured in an armed clash between two groups of the Jamali tribesmen in Phulji village on Monday.

Mohammad Urs, Ali, Gohar, Haji, Waris, Qadir and Bux Jamali received bullet injuries and were later admitted to Khairpur Nathan Shah Taluka Hospital.

Motive behind the clash was stated to be an old enmity.
