141 illegal immigrants arrested

QUETTA, Sept 8: Security forces along the Pakistan-Iran border have arrested 141 illegal immigrants including five women from Taftan area.

A senior official on telephone from Taftan told Dawn on Monday that the Frontier Corps had arrested 141 illegal immigrants on Saturday and Sunday from the border area, who entered from Iran using unfrequented routes.

He said 80 Afghans, including five women, and 61 Bangladeshis were arrested, and they were having no legal travelling documents. The arrested people would be sent back to Iran after interrogation.

remand: A former director-general of the Balochistan social welfare department, arrested by the NAB on Sunday in a corruption reference from Lahore, was remanded in custody till Sept 12, by the accountability court Quetta here on Monday.

He was flown to Quetta from Lahore on Monday and produced before the court.

BAIL REJECTED: Police arrested publisher Mansoor Bukhari after a BHC division bench declined his bail before arrest plea.

Mr Bukhari was also remanded in custody by the accountability court on Monday.
