President Cup rescheduled

LAHORE, Sept 5: President PFF Cup Football Championship has been rescheduled and will now be held at Quetta from Sept 17 to Oct 5.

Earlier, the competition was scheduled to begin from Sept 10.

Sixteen departmental teams are taking part in the championship.

The teams have been divided into four groups from ‘A’ to ‘D’.

Each group has four team each. Top two teams of each group will qualify for the quarterfinals to be held from Sept 29 to Oct 1.

The semifinals are carded for Oct 2 and 3 while the final for Oct 5.

The following is the group position and the draws issued by the PFF on Thursday:

‘A’: Allied Bank, Karachi Port Trust, Navy, Police. ‘B’: Habib Bank, Railways, Army, CDGK. ‘C’: PIA, Khan Research Laboratory (KRL), Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation, National Bank. ‘D’: Wapda, Pakistan Air Force, PTCL, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). Draws: Sept 17: Navy vs Police; Army vs Railways.

Sept 18: HBL vs CDGK; ABL vs KPT.

Sept 19: KESC vs NBP; Wapda vs PTCL.

Sept 20: KRL vs PIA; PAF vs SSGC.

Sept 21: HBL vs Railways; ABL vs Navy.

Sept 22: KPT vs Police; Army vs CDGK.

Sept 23: PTCL vs SSGC; KESC vs PIA.

Sept 24: Wapda vs PAF; KRL vs NBP.

Sept 25: KPT vs Navy; ABL vs Police.

Sept 26: Railways vs CDGK; HBL vs Army.

Sept 27: PIA vs NBP; KRL vs KESC.

Sept 28: PAF vs PTCL; Wapda vs SSGC.

Sept 29: (quarterfinals): Winner of ‘A’ vs Runnersup of ‘B’; Winner of ‘B’ vs Runnersup of ‘A’.

Sept 30: Winner of “C” vs Runnersup of “D”; Winner of “D” vs Runnersup of ‘C’. Oct 1: Winner of ‘D’ vs Runnersup of ‘C’;

Oct 2 and 3 (semifinals). Oct 4: Rest day.

Oct 5: FINAL.
