Fine knocks by Hamid, Arun


KARACHI, Sept 5: Opener Abdul Hameed and Arun Lal hit half centuries to help Quetta collect 238 for nine wicket in their first innings on the opening day of three-day PCB Inter-region Under-19 cricket championship match against Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) at Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Park Steel Town here Friday.

By close of the play KCCA were 28 without loss in eight overs. Fahad Iqbal was 18 not out.

When Quetta batted they were given a flying start of 87 runs by openers Abdul Majeed and Waseem Qutub. Majeed was dismissed for 58 and Waseem went for 34.

But after their departure, only Arun showed resistance with a defiant 51. Quetta’s last four wicket crumbled for mere 18 runs.

Quetta first innings 238 for nine wickets in 90 overs (Abdul Majeed 58, Arun Lal 51, Jalat Khan 41, Waseem Qutub 34; Muhammad Ali 3-55, Asif Hameed 3-75, Tabish Khan 2-49)
