MULTAN, Sept 5: Cantonment police have failed to arrest any of the culprits, who had murdered four members of a family in the district on Thursday night.

Reports said four brothers Azam, Khadim, Nazim and Shahdam barged into their uncle Ahmad Hassan’s house at a mauza in Cantonment police station precinct. They opened an indiscriminate fire as a result of which, Ahmad Hassan, his wife Gulshan, son Faisal Iqbal and daughter Nadia died.

It is learnt that deceased Ahmad Hasan had got his daughter Nadia married to his nephew Azam some time ago. However, the couple soon developed differences, and Nadia started living with her parents.

On the day of the incident, Azam and his brothers had come to take Nadia and, on the family’s resistance, they shot dead the four relatives.

The bodies were removed to the mortuary for postmortem on Friday. Postmortem of one of the bodies could be conducted till filing of this report.

When contacted, Cantonment DSP Ijaz Shafi Dogar said although the case had been registered, no one could be arrested so far in the case.
