Junior swimming from today

PESHAWAR, Sept 4: The 11th national junior swimming championship will splash off at Qayyum Stadium from Friday.

Secretary NWFP Swimming Association, Asif Ali Shah, said on Thursday that under-18 swimmers from all the four provinces would take part in the competition for which all arrangements had been finalised.

Apart from NWFP 20 swimmers each from Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab would also compete in the event, he added.

The championship had been divided into two categories. Under-15 players would compete in the first category whereas the under-18 players would play in the second category.

Asif informed that 50, 100, 200 and 400 meters competitions would be held in freestyle, black stroke, breast stroke, butterfly and individuals.

As many as, 120 medals would be distributed among the swimmers and separate winning trophies would be conferred on the players competing in under-18 and under-18 categories.

The competition will end on Sept 7.
