RAWALPINDI, Sept 3: Two new records were set as Pakistan Army made a clean-sweep of all the five events on the opening day of the two-day Inter- services athletics championship at Army Stadium on Wednesday.
NK Zafar Iqbal of Pakistan Army leapt to 15.90 metres to chalk up a new mark in the triple jump. He was far ahead of the second- placed L/NK Afzaal Ahmed, also of Pakistan Army, who triple-jumped to 14.21 metres.
Army quartet of NK Sajjad, L/NK Shahbaz, NK Afzal and NK Imran timed 41.64 seconds to set the new record in 4x100 metres relay.
Army athletes also won the events of 200 metres race, 3,000 metres steeple chase and hammer throw on the opening day.
