GPO demanded

Published September 4, 2003

LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 3: People belonging to different segments of society have demanded establishment of a general post office (GPO) in the district as the existing postal service is insufficient to meet the requirements of local population.

They also demanded increase in the number of staff working at the Lakki Marwat post office, saying that the public faced a lot of difficulties in paying their utility bills due to staff shortage.

Sources said four clerks, three postmen and one postmaster were appointed when the population of Lakki Tehsil was only 150,000, which shot up to about 600,000 over the years. In this situation, they said, the staff could not deal with the consumers who converged on the post office to deposit their utility bills every month.
