S. Arabia, Russia to fight terror

MOSCOW, Sept 3: Russia and Saudi Arabia agreed on Wednesday to work closely to overcome the threat of terrorism as Foreign Ministers Igor Ivanov and Prince Saud al Faisal held talks on the Middle East and Iraq.

“The international community faces international threats and challenges such as terrorism, and we must cooperate closely to resolve these problems,” Mr Ivanov said as the two envoys went into talks.

“We are interested in continuing our consultations with the Saudi leadership which is well known in the Arab world for its efforts” to find a solution to conflicts in the Middle East and Iraq, he said.

Prince Faisal noted that both sides displayed “mutual trust” in their consultations.—AFP
