SAHIWAL, Sept 2: Three people are reported killed and five injured in an accident here on Monday night on the Lahore-Multan road near Sahiwal bypass.
Rana Arshad’s family was riding his car (LH-4499) when a truck (ZBT-2095), coming from the opposite direction, hit the vehicle.
His chauffeur Niamat and one-year-old son Zain Arshad were killed on the spot while a maid servant succumbed to her injuries in the DHQ hospital.
The injured include his wife Ruqayya, and daughters Sobia, 10, Zara, 5, Sohna, 12, and Tabassam. The condition of three girls is stated to be serious.
Police have registered a case against the absconding truck driver.
FUNDS RELEASED: Cheques worth Rs40 million have been given to 46 union council Nazims by the district Nazim for development works in their areas while the remaining 43 union council Nazims, who are in the opposition, have been deprived of any grant.
This was told to newsmen by opposition leader Chaudhry Ashraf’s spokesman Sajid Bashir on Tuesday.
He claimed that the distribution of development funds has exposed the partiality of the district Nazim.
He demanded audit of the funds being used by the ‘favourites’ of the Nazim.

Meanwhile, the district and sessions judges of Sahiwal and Okara are examining the cases of 49 prisoners and they are likely to be released within 48 hours.
