LAHORE, Sept 1: Muhammad Shahzad and Wahab Riaz shared seven wickets between them helped Lahore to a nine-wicket victory against Rawalpindi in the Inter-region (Under-19) Tournament at the LCCA Ground on Monday.

Right-arm-medium fast Shahzad was the pick of the bowling, taking four for 28 as Rawalpindi, after being put to follow-on were all out for 203 in the second innings which they resumed at 98 for one in the morning.

Left-handed Wahab, who had claimed five wickets in the first innings took three more in the second for 54 to ably support Shahzad to skittle out the visitors who could only add 105 runs to their overnight total before losing nine wickets and set a meagre winning target of 24 for Lahore.

For Rawalpindi, only Usman Saeed gave some resistance to Lahore with a painstaking knock of 67 off 111 balls.

A five wicket haul by off-spinner Tariq Mehmood enabled Sialkot to inflict a big innings and 45-run defeat over Multan at the Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot.

The home side which had earned a big lead of 204, managed to bowl out the visitors in the second innings for another paltry total of 159 in 65.2 overs after resuming at 32-2.

Tariq conceded 67 runs to grab five wickets. Pacer Ali Imran Pasha and leg-spinner Ali Aslam also got two wickets each for 25 and 39 runs, respectively.

The third match between Peshawar and Faisalabad ended in draw at the Jawad Club, Faisalabad.
