Lawyer shot dead by rivals

TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 31: A senior member of the local District Bar Association was shot dead by his rivals on Sunday at Chak 330-JB, Seowal.

Mian Tanweer Alam had litigation with his opponents over the possession of a piece of land. To take revenge, Zulfiqar Ali and his accomplices came to his village and opened fire on Alam, injuring him seriously. He died while being shifted to the local DHQ Hospital.

TWO KILLED: Two persons were killed on Sunday in traffic accidents in different parts of the district.

Timber trader Haji Ghulam Nabi Pathan was on the way to Chak 325-JB Dullam on his motorcycle when he was hit by a pick-up coming from the opposite side. He died on the spot.

Nanha Mahi (4) was crushed to death by a speeding truck on the Kamalia-Toba Road at Kamalia. The deceased was crossing the road.

NEW TRAIN: A new train will be introduced from Lahore to Shorkot Cantonment via Faisalabad-Gojra and Toba Tek Singh.

This was claimed by Gojra’s PML-N MNA Chaudhry Amjad Ali Warraich while talking to newsmen here on Sunday.

He said although he was a transporter and he knew that the introduction of the train would be against his own interest, yet he would fulfil his promise made with the people.
