POF Wah stun NBP


QUETTA Aug 30: Three matches were played in the 25th All Pakistan General Muhammad Musa Gold Cup hockey at General on the second day on Saturday.

Pakistan Railways and KESC were involved in 2-2 draw, POF Wah beat defending champion National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) 3-1 and Habib Bank rout Police 7-2.

Railways took the lead through Zaheer Ahmad in the seventh minute. KESC hit back with two goals through Muneer Abbas off a penalty corner and Shahzad Haneef through field effort to lead 2-1 at half time.

Sabir Ali levelled the scores in the 62nd minute for off a penalty corner to ensure share of spoils. KESC earned five penalty corners to Railways three short corners and a penalty stroke which was wasted.

There was no score in the first half in the match between NBP and POF Wah. Goals from Naseer Ahmad (44th) and Aamir Shahzad (52) gave POF Wah 2-0 lead. Asif Khan pulled one back for the bankers on a rebound off penalty corner to make it 1-2.

Fayyaz Ahmad scored the third goal for Wah in the 68th minutes to seal the fate of the matches.

Habib Bank le 4-0 lead over Police till half time.
