Shakeel joins Imdad at top


KARACHI, Aug 30: Quetta’s Shakeel Rehmati carded a brilliant five-under-par 67 third round to tie with Imdad Hussain at as joint leaders on the penultimate day of 5th Sindh Open Golf Championship at Arabian Sea Country Saturday.

Rehmati, who was placed 15th after first day’s 18 holes but jumped to third spot after a four-under-par 68 in the second round and maintained his his good form on the third day.

Talented Rehmati had five birdies as well as an eagle on hole seven seventh hotel to emerge as star of the day. He was just superb at the front nine by carding score of 32.

Imdad from Garrison Club Lahore, continued his fine run in the event by playing another two-under-par 70 to end with aggregate to tie Shakeel Rehmati with 11-under-par 205.

Shabbir Iqbal of Islamabad was five strokes adrift of Imdad and Shakeel after playing par-round of 72 to end with three rounds aggregate of 210.

After struggling for couple of days, holder Matloob Ahmed demonstrated his skill by shooting four-under-par 68 to lift himself to fourth spot.

Wasim Rana took the charge of Amateur event after the departure of Ali Hai to USA. Wasim played a round of one-under-par 71 and leading with aggregate of 216.

Hamza Ansari is placed second and young Omair Javed is occupying third spot with an aggregate of 230. Omair played three-over-par 78 in the their round.

Sajid Jamil and Muhammad Safdar tied fourth with 234 followed by Babar Khokher and Lt. Ansar Javed at 235.

Waseem Rana was also leading in the net category followed by Samsam Qadar and Sajid Jamil.

Zareen Khan won the 36 holes senior professional event with Mohammad Aslam in second place.
