Green Hill should win day’s feature event

By Aftab Gilani

LAHORE, Aug 30: A competitive card of six events awaits race-goers at the Lahore Gymkhana races to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The first five races will be contested over the sprinting distance of 900m while the sixth and feature event will be run over 1200m.

In all, 62 acceptors have been left-in after the final forfeit. In two races there are only five contestants each.

In the feature event, combined division I and II of the Malir Plate, a class V handicap race, there are only five acceptors. Of them Green Hill, Beena Roy Baby and Imagine Iff are on chance.

The eight-year-old roan Green Hill has an edge over others. Five-year-old dark-bay Beena Roy Baby and seven-year-old Imagine Iff should fight for less remunerative places.

Hunza, Steel Legend and Casper are the form acceptors in the fifth and supporting event, the landhi Plate, class VII division I. If nothing goes wrong the three-year-old chestnut colt Casper, who won a good race on Aug 14 last should make it two in-a- row. Otherwise Hunza and Steel Legend should fight for picking up the spoils.

The three-year-old chestnut colt, Chandiwala, who was beaten in his previous outing on July 27 last, should make amends this time and win the fourth race. Mohni Road, Strings and Birju should fight for the appearance on board.

Bay colt Bone Crusher, who won convincingly on Sunday last seems to be a cut above in class vis-a-vis his five rivals in the third race in a small field of five runners. He should make it two in-a-row.

The first race will be held at 2.30pm.
