An alliance of five political and religio-political parties, Swat Qaumi Ittehad (SQI), has announced Arshad Khan of the Awami National Party (ANP) and Malik Barkat Ali of the PML-N as their candidates. The Jamaat Islami (JI), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao), Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) are included in the bloc.

All the candidates have started door-to-door visits to win over the sympathies of the elected people of the local government. In the past election, the PML-Q and PPPP were the main rivals.

The PTI has divided into two groups. The group of Union council Nazim Muhammad Amin is supporting Karwan-i-Swat while the other one is supporting the SQI.
