KHAIRPUR, Aug 28: District Nazim Nafisa Shah has said that Sindh could not progress without abolishing the tribal system.

She was speaking at a seminar on child care and girls education, organized by a local social organization at the Sachal Auditorium on Tuesday.

Ms Shah said Pakistan stood at bottom of world countries in the field of education. She underlined the need of strengthening free institutions.

She said girls’ education was not being given due consideration in our society. She said the district government would soon start projects for welfare of women and orphans.

Councillor Yasmeen Abro, Qurban Mangi and others also spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile, in a communication addressed to the relief commissioner, Nafisa Shah said growers should be exempted from paying agriculture taxes and other dues.

District Nazim Nafisa Shah has demanded that the Sindh relief commissioner should declare Khairpur a calamity-affected area as many parts of the district had suffered losses in the recent rains. The district Nazim has arr-anged two bulldozers for plugging breaches in minors and canals.

She has also written a letter to the Agriculture Development Bank’s regional manager, asking him to postpone recovery of loans for the current year.
