HYDERABAD, Aug 28: The GOR police have finally lodged a case against Gul Mohammad Daedano alias doctor for possessing chemical powders and explosives. The case was lodged under section 286 of the Pakistan Penal Code — punishable with six months in prison and a fine that may extend up to Rs1,000.

The case was lodged on the complaint of Sikandar Bhatti, in charge, criminal investigation cell. He alleged that Daedano was arrested from Baban Shah colony after explosive material belonging to him was recovered from a spot near the graveyard.

The items included 300kg of sulphur gunpowder, 100kg of sodium nitrate, 203kg of carbon powder, 434 sticks, 49 coils and 99 small pieces of coil. The accused was arrested on Aug 25.

WHEAT MISAPPROPRIATED: The Site police have lodged a case against two flour mill owners, Mohammad Imtiaz Qureshi and Ashfaq Qureshi under section 420 and 406 PPC on the complaint of the district food controller, Abdul Malik Abbasi.

The accused were alleged to have misappropriated wheat worth Rs8.5 million, weighing 1687 tons. The wheat was kept in the mill of the accused through an official letter as the quantity exceeded the government storage capacity.

RAINS: Hyderabad received light rain on Thursday evening that continued for some time. Rainwater accumulated on the main roads and the power supply also remained suspended following the rain. The electricity supply was, however, restored.
