Fine double by Hamid

ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: Seasoned campaigner Hamidul Haq of Pakistan easily beat Charn Hongpanas of Thailand 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the over-40 men’s singles title in the Asian Veterans Open Tennis Championship on Sunday.

Hamid chalked up two breaks in each set against Hongpanas to win the over-40 category final in one hour, 10 minutes, according to reports received from Thailand.

Hamid dominated the competition this year as he also won the over-35 men’s singles final on Saturday after making entry in this category for the first time.

He had toppled the top seed Thai player Suthep in the semifinal of over-35 category on Friday before winning the final on Saturday.—APP
