No soldier killed on LoC: ISPR

Published August 26, 2003

ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: The Army on Monday denied that five of its soldiers were killed at the Line of Control in Rajauri-Poonch sector as a result of Indian firing.

It is the Indian ploy to hide the killing of five innocent civilians, including a young girl, on this side of LoC on Saturday as a result of unprovoked Indian shelling, said a statement by Inter Services Public Relations directorate.

It categorically denied the news, quoting Indian defence sources, regarding the killing of five Pakistani soldiers at the LoC.

The spokesman termed the report as totally baseless and figment of Indian defence sources, and said that no Pakistani soldier had been killed at the LoC as a result of the Indian firing.

The spokesman said that due to unprovoked shelling by the Indian army on Saturday, a school building was also damaged where six children were seriously injured.
