KARACHI, Aug 25: As the strike, called by the All Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association, entered its fifth day on Monday, a spokesman for the PSO said that the filling continued normally at all oil terminals depots through out the country.
The PSO spokesman said that the Pakistan State Oil filled 190 tankers of various capacities while using its alternate arrangements on Sunday.
He said that there had been no impact of the strike anywhere in the country. “The supplies are normal and there is absolutely no shortage of fuel,” he said.
The strike called by the oil tankers association was partial and majority of cartage contractors were cooperating with the PSO, the spokesman added.
He added that the APOTOA had not contacted PSO for talks. “However, our doors are open for all negotiations to settle the matter amicably in the supreme national interest,” he said.
Meanwhile, APOTOA vice-president Haji Faiz told Dawn that Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Marwat had met APOTOA president Yusuf Shawani and assured him that he would try to resolve the matter.
Mr Faiz said that a meeting with the representatives of the petroleum ministry had also been fixed up for Wednesday.
