AMSTELVEEN, Aug 24: Pakistan hockey coach Tahir Zaman said on Sunday he was satisfied after his side beat India 4-3 for a bronze medal which was a consolation after the team failed to qualify for the final of the Champions Trophy.

“It is quite encouraging for us that we have finished among top three teams and that is what I was looking for after we lost to India in the league match,” he said.

“It was a sweet revenge and I am pleased the way players followed the advise setting aside emotions, purely concentrating on the match plan,” he added.

Tahir said victory over India showed the team was better than the opponents as they displayed a flowing game keeping themselves cool and never let the emotions overcome.

He said the forwards and the defenders rose to the occasion and levelled the score thrice which showed the commitment and fighting spirit of the team.

The Indian coach Rajinder Singh said he was not disappointed after the defeat.

He said defenders and forwards were not up to the mark.—APP
