Five killed in Indian firing

MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 22: Five people, including, two woman and two children, were killed in Azad Kashmir on Friday in Indian firing, police said.

One woman was killed when a mortar bomb destroyed her house in a village in the district of Kotli, 250 km south of Muzaffarabad.

A girl was also killed and the woman’s young daughter was buried under the rubble. Police said it was unclear whether she had survived.

Police said another child and another woman and a man were confirmed dead in the same village while two young children were wounded.

A police officer in Kotli said Pakistani soldiers returned fire but did not know of any losses on the Indian side.—Reuters
