Ministries told to respond quickly

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20: Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain on Wednesday expressed his displeasure at delay in submission of replies by the ministries to the questions asked by the members of the National Assembly.

“The ministries should take the question hour seriously and provide answers to the questions in the next working day,” the speaker directed.

He said out of 85 questions asked by the members about the performance of different ministries, answers to 25 questions were still awaited. “I am unable to understand as to why the ministries have failed to submit the answers to these questions when there was enough notice period,” the speaker observed.

He also asked the ministers of water and power and education to take notice of the fact that majority of the questions asked by the members pertained to their respective ministries.

On another occasion, the speaker also asked the members not to bring their cellular phones inside the assembly hall. He made this observation on the continuous ringing of a cellular phone in the hall.

“I will not point out the member whose mobile phone was ringing, but the members should avoid bringing their phones inside the hall because they forget to switch them off during the session,” the speaker said.

Mr Hussain said: “Enough is enough, and from now onwards the members should not bring their cellular phones inside the hall,” the speaker ruled.
