Governor reviews FIA working

LAHORE, Aug 20: Governor Khalid Maqbool inspected on Wednesday the performance of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The FIA officials briefed him on various inquires related to the crime, economic crime and passport cell wings. He lauded the performance of passport cell for recovering looted money from those involved in sending people abroad on invalid documents.

The governor directed the FIA officers to dispose of pending inquiries as soon as possible.

An elderly woman pleaded the governor to help her recover Rs500,000 from an agent who had taken the money for sending her son abroad. The governor directed the officers concerned for the arrest of the accused and the recovery of the money.

The governor also visited the airport and asked the FIA immigration authorities to take extraordinary measures to stop people board on invalid documents.

He was told that during the last one year 150 people were off loaded.

However, PIA was fined for its failure to board six passengers who were later caught in Europe travelling on invalid documents.
