LAHORE, Aug 20: The Punjab University has expressed its inability to give admission forms to the four students of the Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad, who were allowed by the Supreme Court to appear for MBBS examinations under its auspices.

It was learnt that the PU administration has told Azhar Aslam, Bashir Ahmad, Attaullah Qasmi, Shafique Ahmad — students of MBBS first, second third and fourth year classes, respectively — that their record had already been sent to the University of Health Sciences.

PU registrar Col Masudul Haq said the university had received the SC decision on Wednesday which had been sent to the university’s legal adviser. “We will act according to the opinion of our legal adviser,” he said.

The PU had handed over all medical students’ record to the University of Health Sciences (UHS). The PU would contact the UHS and ask for the record of these students, if so advised by the legal adviser.

He said the university also received a letter from the principal of the Punjab Medical College, asking the Punjab University to issue admission forms to its students.

Answering a question, Col Haq said the opinion of the PU’s legal adviser would be received on Thursday (today).

In a news release issued here on Wednesday, the four candidates said the Supreme Court had allowed them to appear for their MBBS first, second, third and final professional examinations under the auspices of the Punjab University.

They said that they would even protest outside the Punjab Assembly and the UHS, if they were denied admission forms by the Punjab University.
