Published August 20, 2003

KARACHI, Aug 19: The women wing of Jamaat Islami on Tuesday demanded of the government to abandon its plan to send Pakistani troops to Iraq.

Through a resolution adopted at the end of a one-day training session for women workers held at Idara Noor-i-Haq, the participants said any such move would have far-reaching consequences.

“There stand apprehension that the Pakistan Army troops, if sent to Iraq, would be facing inhospitable situation and may be pitted against the Iraqi people which is the ultimate agenda of the US government.”

The resolution added that the people of Iraq had been resisting occupation of their land by US forces and their resistance was gaining momentum with the passage of every day which proved the fact that the US government did not have the capability to handle the situation and solving the Iraqi peoples problems.—PPI
