PPP leader criticizes Swiss verdict

MIRPURKHAS, Aug 17: Former federal minister and Pakistan People’s Party MNA Nawab Mohammad Yousuf Talpur has termed the judg-ment by a Swiss investigating officer against Ms Benazir Bhutto and her spouse Asif Ali Zardari as a mockery of international law.

Talking to Pakistan People’s Party workers from Mirpurkhas district on Sunday, the CEC member of the PPP said the Swiss officer had left many questions unanswered while giving his verdict, says a party Press release.

He said the investigating officer never called the accused for hearing till last date when he gave the judgment convicting a former prime minister and a prominent South Asian political leader.

The Pakistan People’s Party said that five principles of international judicial system were ignored by the retiring Swiss officer which include: territorial principle, nationality principle, passive personality principle, protective principle, and the universality principle.

The former federal minister said the party would not accept such verdicts.
