Pakistan tour an acid test: Whatmore

DHAKA, Aug 16: Bangladesh cricket coach Dav Whatmore said on Saturday that the experience gained in Australia would help his team on the upcoming tour of Pakistan.

“Our goal is to follow the right direction,” Whatmore told reporters before his team’s departure for Pakistan for three Tests and five one-dayers.

“This is an acid test for the team as we can assess where we stand now. We hope the tour will put the team on right track after playing Australia.”

Bangladesh lost both of their Tests against one-day world champions Australia on their recent tour and then suffered a 3-0 whitewash in the one-day series.

Whatmore said his team would have to do everything “properly and correctly” to taste success and his aim was to ensure each player improved his performance.

Bangladesh have made two changes to the squad that toured Australia, replacing batsman Al-Shariar with Rajin Saleh and Alamgir Kabir in place of paceman Tarek Aziz.—PPI
