Umar, Shabbir can deliver goods: Rashid

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Aug 13: Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has said that medium-pacers Umar Gul and Shabbir Ahmed are capable of handling the situation if main strike bowler Shoaib Akhtar gets unfit during the first two Tests against Bangladesh.

Talking about the strategy if the injury-prone Shoaib becomes unfit, Rashid said that Umar and Shabbir hopefully will meet any challenge.

He praised top batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq who is making a comeback after a long time. “Inzamam is a world class player and will strengthen the batting lineup.”

The skipper said that he will not take Bangladesh as a weak side and will play positively against them.

Rashid added that he can’t predict a whitewash against Bangladesh, but added he would like to win every match.
