Sialkot jail football factory head freed

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, Aug 13: The in-charge of the district jail’s football factory, Fayyaz Ali, was absolved by the police investigation team of charges of involvement in the jail tragedy.

According to sources, Sialkot jail’s two suspended wardens, Riasat Ali and Aziz Ahmad, confessed that they had supplied arms to a deceased prisoner, Ashfaq alias Ishaq, few days before the incident.

The arrested jail officials, however, claimed that the deceased prisoner had planned to escape from the jail before the killings of four civil judges.

The police investigation team on Wednesday recorded the statements of five suspects, Raja Mushtaq, Chaudhry Akhtar, Ghulam Sarwar, Riasat Ali and Aziz Ahmad at the district jail.

Meanwhile, District Bar Association President Chaudhry Munawar Warraich, Vice-President Farah Deeba and Secretary-General Shamshad Ahmad Bajwa have urged the government to speed up inquiries being conducted into the tragic incident.
